When you are working deep within the kiln, or otherwise working very close to the heat source, you want to reflect as much of the heat away as possible. This is what these aluminized back gloves do.
Please refer to our whitepaper, "How to select the right High Temperature Glove", to further explain how a high temperature glove works, and how to select the one for your needs.
Made in the USA.

These wool lined gloves have a 1000° Kevlar face material that will allow you to touch or hold hot items for a short length of time. It is not recommended, though, to touch the actual hot glass with these, as the glass may stick to the aluminized back (ruining both your glass and the gloves)! Also, please remember to shut off the electricty to your kiln before reaching in!

Another very useful glove is a leather palm glove. Remembering that gloves wear out as much due to abrasion as they do to burning, a leather palmed glove is much more resistant to abrasion. While these are not good for handling hot glass itself, they are great for handling items that are warm-to-hot, such as opening furnace doors, using ladles, etc. In addition, they have the aluminized backing to reflect heat away when you are working, say, close to the furnaces.
